About the work
The Shahada — lā ilāha illā Allāh, Muḥammad rasūl Allāh — flows across the canvas in bold, deep brown calligraphy outlined in rose, over a warm field of amber, ochre and rust. Smaller letters and drops of gold drift through the background like echoes of the words. Finished in a slim gold frame. Hand-painted in Morocco.
